The Muffin Unibrow.

  • Mistake Cupcake Meld

This disaster can be likened to the unibrow of muffins.

No one likes unibrow.  (Please tell me you know what unibrow is.  If not, stop reading this and do something simple, like watching Sesame Street or pointing at planes fly in the sky or making my Quickie Toffee Graham Cracker Cookies.)

No one likes a muffin with jagged edges either, a muffin that has been ripped apart from the neighboring muffins that got all aggressive at 350° and baked their way onto every other muffin in sight (check out the middle muffin in the photo above to get what I mean.  The poor sucker never stood a chance, overrun with the batter of the four surrounding muffins.  A text book case of muffin unibrow if I’ve ever seen one.).  Don’t get me wrong- some muffins are meant to look all down-homey and rustic, like Morning Glory Muffins, which could really suit a muffin unibrow scenario.  Having to cut your muffin out of a tin where it grew into its fellow muffins is quaint when it’s full of seeds and nuts and fruit, and screams ‘hoedown, heck yeah!”.  Yeah well, the Gingerbread Muffins with Coffee Glaze, baked into cute and expensive muffin cups pictured above, don’t reek of rustic.  They’re basically cupcakes, which we all know deserve to be baked properly (meaning: their baker should have evenly spaced out the individual muffin cups before putting the baking sheet in the oven, instead of letting them cluster and then bake up into a scandalous muffin unibrow orgy).  Gingerbread Muffins deserve nice rounded tops to drizzle the Coffee Glaze over.  I guess this batch didn’t stand a chance…  not with the likes of me at the helm.
