    Cinnamon Sugar Palmiers

    December 6th, 2015

I love baking things with French names because they make me sound like a better baker than I really am or ever will be.  We all know that French = Fancy, and you can’t deny it.  Doesn’t the Apple Gateau Breton with Salted Caramel Sauce sound so much better than Apple Cake with Salted […]

Rum Spice Banana Muffins with Pecans

    January 21st, 2015

How many more ingredients could I cram into the title of this recipe? I’d have added every single one of the following stunning additions to entice you, but thought the current extend-a-name was verging on ridiculous to begin with: Rum Cinnamon Orange Nutmeg Pecans Bananas (obviously) So there you have it- add the above-mentioned flavors […]

    Simple Cinnamon Cake

    November 8th, 2014

Oh, easy.  I love you. I especially love you when I have no time and energy to get all fancy in the kitchen, and yet I’m still compelled to bake something.  But not just anything… something good.  (Really good, let’s be honest.) I knew I wanted to bake a cake (we were moving soon and I […]

Who can’t make a recipe that they stumble across called “Dirt Bombs”? You know by now that I rip recipes out of magazines like there’s no tomorrow (until The Husband gently asks if I need to move any of the ragged pages from the kitchen counter over to my recipe binder, because they really do […]

  • Nutty Cream Cheese Spirals

    Nutty Cream Cheese Spirals

    August 2nd, 2014

I have been making these for years and have been holding back on you. This post is my mea culpa.  I’ve been busy (with 345 recipes posted prior to this one) and really have no excuse as to why I’ve slacked off on the spiral-sharing.  (Maybe it’s the same reason I haven’t shared my peanut […]

    Cinnamon Brown Sugar Bars

    June 21st, 2014

I have a thing for brown sugar, which is alternatingly glorious and dangerous (seriously- I could eat it with a spoon on its own, and have done so many many times).  Ever since sprinkling (pouring) it on my Shreddies and Life cereal as a kid, there’s been no turning back.  (Case in point- the Quickie […]

    Cinnamon Sticky Buns

    February 26th, 2014

I just made one of my dreams come true.  (Well, technically a dozen dreams, since this recipe makes 12 puffy and sticky and wondiferous cinnamon buns.) Because I know you’re keenly interested, let’s have a discussion about The History of Cinnamon Buns in My Life, shall we?  I don’t remember where it started, so I’ll […]

    Cinnamon Buttermilk Bundt Cake

    January 30th, 2014

It’s the simple things in life that are so damed good sometimes. Like Bundt cakes.  Bundt cakes make me happy.  Giddy, really.  It’s kind of goofy, but by now you know that goofy comes with the Moore Sweets, Please package.  (I don’t know if there is a site called More Serious Sweets, Please, but if […]

Apple Cinnamon Strudel with Cinnamon Whipped Cream

    October 30th, 2013

I need to make an apple pie soon, I know, but I needed to make a masterpiece with the puff pastry burning a hole in our freezer more than anything.  Apple strudel is like the cooler cousin of apple pie.  Apple strudel has international experience and offers the life-gratifying benefits of the plain Jane pie […]

    Cinnamon Sugar Biscuit Bites

    June 5th, 2013

Totally adorable. Totally cinnamon-sugar-tastic. Totally something you must make this weekend, so you can have biscuits for breakfast and then these little biscuit bites all freaking day long. I think you’ll agree that eating 5 little weensie dessert-like things really isn’t the same as eating a normal-size dessert-like thing.  And these biscuit bites can’t really […]

Oat-Branana Muffins with Cinnamon Glaze (Vegan!)

    February 27th, 2013

I have no idea why, but I had a hankering to make something with oat bran.  Oat bran sounds terrifically unfun, doesn’t it? (Well, wheat germ takes the cake in the “this doesn’t sound like I’m going to love it” department, but oat bran is a close second.  Sorry, I’m forgetting about All Bran.  All […]

Browned Butter Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake

    September 22nd, 2012

Yes, it’s that time of year. The time of year to embrace all that apple and cake have to offer… ideally melded together into one fluffy, buttery, cinnamon-scented coffee cake of autumnal goodness.  (Is it possible to say that something is fluffy and rich at the same time?  I wanted to say rich a moment […]

  • Buttery Soft Pretzels- Sweet or Salty

    May 2nd, 2012

How do you prefer your pretzels- salty (with chunks of salt scattered across the top), or sweet (with cinnamon sugar sprinkled over the well-buttered surface of the still-warm dough)?
It doesn’t matter, my friend, because you have both options catered to in this recipe. As long as you like them soft and chewy, you’ll be just fine.

I know I have complained about yeast recipes before, and I will absolutely complain again (although less so in this recipe, because you’re not letting the dough rise twice)- but I was inspired to make pretzels for three reasons:

  • Oatmeal Cinnamon Chip Muffins

    March 31st, 2012

Fluffy, moist, healthy (sort of), and just the right amount of sweetness from the cinnamon chips… that’s what these muffins are all about, baby. And once you slather a pat of butter on each half when still warm from the oven, you’ll have the right amount of salty richness, too.

Other than the cinnamon chips, the key to this recipe is the buttermilk~ it gives it a nice depth and tang. The good news is that buttermilk is low in fat, and with oatmeal as a star player in this recipe, you won’t need to fear the muffin top- and I’m talking about the kind that spills over your jeans, not the literal top of the muffin. (But you knew that.)

    Enjoy!

  • Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Bread

Oh, yeasty-cinnamonny smelling loaf of wonder, why can’t you take just a bit less time to make? Like 2 hours less, give or take? You’re delectable, especially when toasted and slathered with butter, and yet you’re a pain in the ass. And you don’t care, because you know that I’ll keep coming back, in a dysfunctional relationship sort of way.

  • Mocha Cinnamon Mini Bundt Cakes

Some people are a bit weirded out by the melody of chocolate and cinnamon, but most people are intoxicated by it. Don’t hesitate to try it, especially if you’re a chocolate lover. A little cinnamon never hurt anyone- and as its proponents would suggest, it does wonders when combined with the magical duo of chocolate and coffee. It’s the crazy threesome of the baking world.
